One
day me and my mom were doing recycling at the local center, and of course
the strays that roam around the area could be seen, but only from afar. They
usually never came close to people though. I was putting cardboard away when I
felt something rub against my legs and it was the most beautiful kitten ever.
I showed my mom and we "oo"ed and "ah"ed at her for a few minutes and said put
her down and get back in the car.
I put Cori down and walked to the other side of the car, but she followed
right behind me. I put her farther away and ran back, but she still ran after
me. I picked her up again and my mom was deciding what to do with her. Finally
after seeing how fragile the three month kitten was and knowing how cold it
was going to be that night, our conscious wouldn't let us just leave her.
I got back in the car with Cori and we headed to the Vet. On the way, she
almost fell asleep in my lap in the five minute ride. She had all the bad
effects of being a stray, so she would have to spend the night but we were so
excited to get her the next day. She was extremely shy the first week and
needed to be with someone at all times. If anyone sat near her she would crawl
on their lap and go to sleep.
Today she still religiously sleeps on my mother's lap each night and has become
much stronger and more playful. She likes to play with pens mostly, but also
enjoys wrestling with our lop-eared rabbit as well. They really are playing,
neither bites or scratches the other, so they don't get hurt. We're so glad we
saved Cori from the wild and to have her in our family.
