This
is Mickey. We're pretty sure he's at least part Maine Coon. Griffy,
our sixteen-year-old cat, passed away in July of 2008, and we hadn't planned
on get another one for awhile. However, then came Hurricane Ike in
August 2008. Special Pals, a shelter near our house, took in about 100
animals from Galveston Bay-area shelters that had to be evacuated due to
the hurricane, and they were desperately in need of emergency supplies.
My husband and I took a load of supplies to them one day, and saw
Mickey. It was love at first sight! He and my husband bonded instantly,
and they're all but inseparable (although he loves his mama, too!). He
loves water-he constantly wants us to turn on the water in the bathroom
sink, and he gets in it and rolls around. He's also a very big talker!
We're pretty sure he's part Maine Coon, with his love of water, ear
tufts, and snowshoe feet. He has lots of fun with our three older cats,
and our eleven-year-old Aussie Cattle Dog-he has made a great addition to
our family!
