Tehya
was a rescue kitty back in January 2000. He was the last kitten of the
litter and they were going to take him out to the back yard and 'dispose' of
him... Some friends told me about him, and being an animal lover, I told them I
would take him. He showed up at my house an hour later.
When I got him he was just the most precious kitten I have ever had and I
instantly fell in love. I researched different languages for the word
precious and found Tehya. If anybody knows pixie bobs, they are more like a
dog than a cat. Tehya comes to me when I call him, he comes if I just whistle.
He will chase his toys and actually fetch them and bring them back for us to
throw them down the hall again. He sleeps at the foot of our bed and is up and
gone in a flash if he hears any noise that is not recognized. A few years back
we had a burglar break in during the night, and Tehya was up in our faces
meowing and pawing at us until we woke up and heard the noises downstairs!
That one was a shocker.
Tehya has a little brother, Oliver, who is a ferret and they love each other.
They chase each other around the house and even snuggle together at times.
When I come home from work, I will find Tehya sleeping next to or on top of
Oliver's cage waiting for him to come out and play. We are just about to add
an new addition to the family, a baby girl. Tehya will crawl up on my belly,
sprawl out to cover as much of it as he can and just purr the loudest I have
ever heard. When she starts to kick or squirm around he will jump up and sit
and watch my belly and turn his head like a dog does. I think he thinks I am
having a kitten. When 'dad' goes to touch my belly, Tehya will jump in front
of his hand and actually curl a lip up and growl at him too.
Tehya loves to go for car rides with me and if I let him, he will stick his
head out of the window just like a dog. He tries to meow while doing this, but
the wind will cut him off and make it sound more like gurgling. If I won't let
him put his head out the window, he will crawl up n the dashboard and look at
everything we pass. Sometimes he will try to chase a passing car or bicycler
too. He is our dog trapped in a kitties body. Life would not be same without
him around.
