was originally brought home to keep my cat Timon company. I found him
in an employee newsletter and as soon as I saw him I didn't think twice about
bringing him home. He has been the sweetest thing all these years, such a
contrast to Timon's cantankerous ways. These two wonderful boys have been my
companions for fifteen years now.
Most of his life he has been a big boy, weighing in around fifteen to sixteen
pounds, but last year he started to rapidly lose weight. After a full blood
work up at the vet we figured out that he had hyperthyroidism and now has to
be pilled daily. Again his incredible sweetness comes through because he is
the easiest kitty to pill - on the planet! He just puts up with it, and I
always follow up with a treat-chaser. At some point he stopped eating and I
thought I would loose him that week, but with advice from his vet and the help
of some high-calorie food and a syringe, he recovered and is still with me. I
struggle to keep his weight up around ten pounds now. He spends most of his
time sleeping and finding a sunny spot to enjoy, which is a pursuit he has
always enjoyed. At night his purr is so wonderful hear as he sleeps next to
me on the bed.
A few years ago he became famous when I made a quilt of him and his portrait
was in the 2008 American Quilter's Society show in Paducah, KY. I was so
proud of that quilt! And he has his own method of quilt-testing, as you can
see. He is my sweet butter love and I hope that he is with me for at least a
few more years.
