This
is Lewie, named for Merryweather Lewis the explorer and adventurer.
He's an American Alley Cat, and as you can see, he is a Mackerel Tabby with
purrfect cat stripes.
I would like to introduce my four-week old kitten Lewie. At only three to
four days old Lewie was already a survivor. Lewie was found by my father on
his birthday April 23rd. We thought Lewie had been a victim of animal
cruelty. Later we learned that some girls on their way to school saw a
scrub jay pecking at something that looked like a dead gopher. My dad found
Lewie an hour or so later. He brought the kitten to me because he was so
upset he couldn't think straight. I wasn't to sure if the kitten would make
it but my dad needed a job to keep him busy so I sent him to the feed store
to get some milk replacer for kittens. And boy, was I wrong about the
kitten's survival! In the last four weeks we have watched him develop into
a furry little ball of energy.
