Allow
me to introduce you to my big hunk of love... my rescued Ragdoll,
Uncle Max. Several months ago I got an email from a friend of a friend of a
friend about a woman who recently passed away and left a Ragdoll cat, eight
years old. I immediately made an appointment to meet the boy and was
advised that he was very skittish and would probably not respond to me.
Well, the boy walked right up to my waiting hands and kissed me.
Needless to say, I called my hubby and told him the story and he said "go
for it" so we took in this wonderful cat. Max came from a home where there
was a heavy odor of cigarette smoke and dark rooms and messy messy
housekeeping. He now has fresh air, a deck to play on, long hallways to
play fetch and a screened-in back porch. He is a changed young man. I had
him shampooed and checked out and all is well. He is a classic Rag. fifteen
pounds of muscle, loves belly rubs and follows me around like a puppy.
Oddly, his name was Max. I already have a Max, so I renamed him Uncle Max
and told my original Max that he was named after his Uncle who was moving
in with us. Maximillian, Magnolia, Katie Belle and now Uncle Max, make our
home complete. Everyone gets along. Katie had some trepidation originally,
but after a few doses of Buspar she has come around and the two of them
smell noses all the time.
In my opinion, one cannot have too many Ragdolls and we are all so happy to
have given this well deserving young cat a loving, clean, fun home to grow old
with us in. I adore Uncle Max and hope he is Cat of the Day for all the trauma he has
endured and all the love he gives.
