Snookie
is special because she is blind, but she wasn't born that way. My
girlfriend and I found her at a humane society and she was all alone in
a cage. She was only four weeks old and her left eye was extremely
damaged. They said they were going to put her to sleep because they
couldn't treat her eye infection. So we took her in and fostered her.
Her eyes are all better, but the infection had spread to both eyes and
she is now completely blind. But most of the time you cannot tell.
Snookie (or Snooks) loves to play with her 'crinkle ball' the toys that are
made of the plastic foil. And sometimes when we put our shoes on in the
morning we will find crinkle balls in our shoes. Sometimes, if Snooks is
playing too frantically with a crinkle ball or a ball of paper, she will bump
her head into a wall - she then pretends she didn't do it. You cannot make
the slightest noise without getting her attention.
She loves to get really close to the light bulbs in lamps. We think that she
enjoys being close to the light and the heat that comes from it. She has some
stuffed animals that she loves to play with and every day she will drag them
down from the shelf that we put them on. If we are ever watching TV or
reading and she can't hear our voices for a while, she will begin to meow,
thinking that we have left her alone. Ever since she was a little kitten,
every morning she has crawled onto us and rolled around and purred to wake us up.
We feel very lucky to have Snookie because, when we found her, it didn't seem
like she would make it. We took her with us everywhere we went so that we
could keep a constant eye on her. We feel like it is a miracle that we found
her and could save her life. She will always be our little miracle!
