I
adopted Freya and her littermate Brigit from a local rescue group a couple
of months ago, and they have been the best cats! They are part Siamese, and
Freya got the coloring to show for it, though the very fluffy fur (I sometimes
call her "Fluffball") must have come from some other part of the family tree.
You would never guess they are sisters, as Brigit is solid black and has the
sleek coat of a Siamese.
Freya is a very sweet and gentle lap cat, constantly wanting attention and
wanting to be near me. She's usually doing something cute or funny: "mountain
climbing" up the shelves, playing ferociously with the laser pointer dot or
fur rat, or lying down with her hind legs stretched out straight behind her!
She and her sister are the best cats ever.
Freya is an easy-going goofball; everything in the world is a cat toy to her,
and she's frequently doing something silly. When the interactive cat toys
come out, she's the one who goes after them very enthusiastically (if not very
gracefully, which just adds to the silliness!). She's a real lap cat too; as
soon as I sit on the sofa in the evening, she gets in my lap and gets a good
brushing (she especially loves under the chin and on top of the head), and
"melts" across my lap for the rest of the evening. The rest of the time,
she's usually near me and my husband, sitting on top of whatever we're doing if
she can (and we frequently get that fluffy tail in the face!). The only
negative is that she's fond of chewing on paper and cardboard (earning her the
nickname "Chewie"), so we have to keep any important papers where she can't
get at them, and find ourselves picking little bits of paper off the floor
that she has chewed off and spat out. She's happy to meet anyone who comes in
the door, and appreciates a good scritching from them. I adopted Freya and
her littermate Brigit from a local rescue group; I'd like to encourage
everyone reading this to consider adopting rescue cats. Rescue groups have
some of the best cats!
