This
pretty girl followed my friend up to my 4th floor apartment eight years ago
and has been my girl ever since. She was meowing a lot and was very smelly.
After giving her some food and a much needed bath, she settled right in. We
just kept calling her Kitten so that name stuck.
The vet figured she was at least one year old. They treated her for worms and
mites and then we were told they spayed her. One night after coming home from
a movie, I yelled to my boyfriend "Kitten has a mouse in here!" He laughed
and told me it was a baby kitty! I couldn't believe she was pregnant the
whole time! She ended up only having two babies, Marshmellow and Gizmo,
luckily because I kept them both as well!
After Kitten had kittens I obviously took her to a vet I used to take my
family dog to because we were suspicious of the first vet clinic's work! The
new vet said that we should have been told that Kitten was pregnant, because
it should have been obvious to them! They had never seen or heard of a case
like ours. The whole situation really stressed my boyfriend and I out because
we had a lot of guilt about not treating her differently during the pregnancy.
Luckily both baby kitties were beautiful and healthy. When the boy, Gizmo,
was five years old he was actually diagnosed with insulin-dependant diabetes.
The vet says it's possible that any medications Kitten received while she was
pregnant could have contributed to it. He has become my best buddy and I feel
so bonded to him because I also had type one diabetes.
Kitten has never stopped being the most gracious, loving, chatty and cuddly
cat ever! I thank God every day that she chose me to help her out and I
cherish Kitten, Marshy and Gizzie every second!
