Pedro
is a great little cat. He arrived by plane four years ago when a friend
rescued him as a stray in Southern California. He immediately made himself at
home, but it took some time for him and my other tuxedo cat Howie to make
peace. Pedro loves to keep me company, whether I'm cooking, at the computer,
in the bathroom getting ready for work, reading, or gardening, he wants to be
right there with me. He loves when we have visitors, with the exception of
workmen with ball caps, and if you put him on your lap he immediately settles in.
Pedro went missing once and after an agonizing two days of searching, I turned
to a pet communicator who amazingly described where he was in such detail that
I found him shut in a neighbor's guest house within five minutes of our phone call!
I am the recipient of many cringe-worthy gifts from my little friend,
sometimes brought into the house live and sometimes not. He requires the
bathtub taps be turned on everyday for his drink of water and thinks his dry
food tastes better outside the bowl. Pedro will often gaze at me with a look
of such happiness and contentment and I kiss him on his nose and tell him he's
a bright spot in my day... every day.
