Oreo, the Cat of the Day
Name: Oreo
Age: Fourteen years old
Gender: Female
Kind: Tortoiseshell
Home: Middlebury, Indiana, USA

I have had my cat since I was six years old. My mom surprised me one day after school with a brand new kitten that she had rescued. This happen around Halloween time so I picked the name Oreo because I thought she looked like a Halloween Oreo cookie, you know the kind with orange icing.

Oreo is a very unique cat. She is definitely not the brightest bulb in the box, but that just makes me love her even more, because she makes me laugh. I'm sure you would just have to know her to get the full effect. Her favorite food is cheese, eggs and cereal milk. So in the summer when I eat by breakfast outside, Oreo eats with me and I usually have to make myself extra because Oreo will eat half of the food. Also when she is sleeping in my room and she is thirsty, she will get up and sit in my sink waiting until I turn on the faucet for her to drink, spoiled kitty. So it all comes down to that she is a piggie. When Oreo was younger she would used to catch snakes and bring them to me, well, let's just say I stopped that habit quickly. Instead of hunting down smaller animals like birds and such, Oreo uses her cat instincts of being able to hunt me down. She follows me everywhere and when I call her name, she comes trotting to me, probably because she thinks she will get a snack. Oreo is not a very energetic cat but she does love to play, her favorite toys are the light from a flashlight and the string from my sweatpants. Also she enjoys putting our kitten in its place. Oreo has become the queen cat, because she has had to put up three kittens while they grow up. The older she gets the more demanding and grumpier she gets: she fits the profile of grumpy ol' cat, however she loves to give you millions of kisses. Really, she will lick your fingers and chin to death.

Oreo and I love each other very much. Oreo knows how to be very inconvenient; it's her super power. But she knows I love her too much to ignore her. Since the day I got her I told her that we will save the world together, and I still tell her that and her response is a kiss on my chin.
