Jackie
is our baby. He has two siblings, JoJo is his sixteen-year-old
brother and Jasmine, his five-year-old sister. He looks sort of like a
Russian Blue in the face and has a coarse coat. We call him our Black
Russian.
Jackie chose to live with us, first in the backyard and then he moved
inside and took over. We had been feeding a feral male (Lightning) outside
for quite a while when we noticed a small black kitten sneaking up to the
food dish after he ate. Then Lightning began to defer to Jackie, letting
him eat first. We believe that Lightning is Jackie's father because of
coloring, size, and mannerisms. We think he followed his dad into the yard
and decided to stay. It took several weeks to be able to touch him but now
he loves a belly rub and to be held like a baby on his back in your arms.
When he came inside, he weighed just three pounds.
He is now nearly fourteen pounds and has long legs and big feet and is still
growing! He is a sweetheart that has taken a place in our hearts and we
think he deserves to be the Cat of The Day.
PS. Lightning still comes to eat every day.
