Hi
Everyone,
My name is Nishka and people say I'm a very special cat. I don't know why,
because I feel like I'm no different than any other cat. My mommy rescued
me from a local pound when I was about eighteen months old. When she first
took me home I learned real quick that I had to start "suckin up" to dad
because he wasn't a cat person like mom. When he'd go to bed at night I'd
crawl under the covers with him and snuggle and purrrr him to sleep.
I've got him wrapped around my paw now where he even shares his food with
me. I love Popeye's chicken and taters and gravy but my all-time favorite
is steamed shrimp. He keeps telling mom I need to go on a diet because I'm
up to about 25 pounds. My dad rigged up a line in the back yard where he can
hook my leash that allows me to travel about 20 feet each way for the full
width of the yard which I think is 50 feet. What??? You've never heard of a
cat on a leash? Well you have now. With such a large area to travel, it
allows me to stalk those big ol' tasty crickets and pounce when they least
expect it.
When I get my belly full I usually take a nap in my little umbrella chair
mom got for me. Once I wake up I spend the rest of the day chasing
dragonflies, birds and the neighbor's dog. The birds are kind of boring
now because they're used to me. Some of them will let me get right up in
their face.
My mom and dad do a lot of traveling in the summer time attending car
shows all over the country which was a whole new ball game for me. I
learned really fast that I needed to "get with the flow" or be cooped up
in some strange cat house for three to four days. Soooo, I learned to
travel and I really like it now. Some of our trips take ten to twelve
hours so dad made me a lounging shelf by the back window where I can lay
and take in all the scenery as we motor down the road when I'm not curled
up on the floor sleeping at his feet.
The best part of these trips are the Rest Stops along the way. While mom
cleans my litter box and does her thing, dad lets me prowl the grounds
from one end to the other in search of whatever. With everyone taking
pictures of that "cat on a leash" and asking all kinds of dumb questions
about me, our "rest stops" usually take about an hour. When we get to the
car show the first thing everyone asks is, "Where's Nishka?" Yep, everyone
knows me on a first name basis. I'm more of a celebrity than my dad. I
think that's because of the leash thing and my "Hot Rod" stroller that
shoots fire out of two little exhaust pipes.
Yes, it's a good life traveling the country and getting all that attention
but it's always good to get back home. If you're traveling and pull in to
one of those rest stops on the "big road," keep an eye out for a great big
cat on a leash because it'll be me since I'm a "One Of A Kind" cat.
