I
got Xander from a local vet hospital when he was three months old. Sadly he was
the oldest kitten there and had already been adopted once and was returned. I
immediately fell in love with him when we held him and he started playing with
my boyfriends long hair. I will never understand how anyone could have
returned such a beautiful kitty.
When he's not prancing around the house demanding love and attention he spends
his time chasing his siblings or sleeping in awkward positions. He truly has
a one-of-a-kind personality, and he is more of a child to me than a pet.
Xander is more of an independent cat toward strangers but when he warms up, he
is your best friend. He waits for my arrival home every day from work and follows
and weaves in and out of my legs throughout the house until I stop and give him
some one-on-one Xander Time. He lived the first four years of his life in sunny
California. In November of 2008, we relocated to Washington. During the winter he
loved watching the snow fall from the warmth and safety of the living room
window, but would not take one step outside. He loves to lay in front of a
warm fire, typically belly up.
Now thats it's summer, when the sun shines through the windows he loves to lay
in the tiniest of spots of sunshine on the floor and couches. He will lay
there for hours and roll around in the sun. He definitely misses the California
sunshine. His favorite toy is a plastic rod with feathers and a bell attached
to the end. He loves to have us shake it around to imitate a bird, and he will
pounce and stalk the moving feather. He also thoroughly enjoys a laser
pointer. He will jump up and down the walls and slide on the hardwood floors
if he thinks it will give him the opportunity to finally catch that elusive
"red dot."
