I'd
like you to meet Kiki, my adorable little calico girl! She has been
living with me and my other sweet kitty Graham in Vancouver for over six
years now, but her beginnings were not nearly so carefree.
The Calgary SPCA rescued Kiki from a garbage dump, where she was found
emaciated, starving, and with an eye infection. They helped her get well
and sent her to a Calgary pet store, where we came across her one day just
after Christmas. We thought she looked withdrawn, and we worried that no
one would adopt her. When we brought her home, we expected her to be very
shy and to take a lot of time to adjust to her new home.
Well, did she ever she surprise us!! She quickly turned out to be one of
the most cheerful, affectionate, rambunctious, and goofy cats I've ever
met! She has more cute habits and ways than I could ever manage to list.
Kiki just loves meeting people, and will always be right there at the door
to say hi and then flump over at your feet. She chirps every time you
touch her, and has a large and varied vocabulary of burbly trilling sounds
and meows. When she wakes up from a nap, she'll talk on and on about I
know not what, so I just call it her "wake-up speech." Kiki also loves to
clown around and race all over the apartment, scaling the highest
bookshelves with ease.
Kiki is taking a serious nap as I write this, but I'm sure she would be
delighted to know that you all got to meet her as Cat of the Day. She's
never met anyone she doesn't love.
