This
is Felice, my girl. She is the only female of our four cats and she's
in charge - most of the time. We are also owned by her brother,
Tinkerbell (he came from the next litter) and the two older boys, Doc and
Bud. She really is the queen of our household and does all she can to
rule it. I brought her home when she was six weeks old, shortly after my
eighteen-year-old girl Blue died. I couldn't bear to be without a female cat
in the house. Friends of ours were hand raising their litter of Siamese
kittens, so she was well-socialized.
Felice is Spanish for happy, but she's really a huge brat! We had the two
older boys, but she drove them crazy with always wanting to play! They
aren't Siamese you see, and they just didn't know what to do with her.
So we had to get her brother so she'd have a playmate. I've never had a
purebred cat before and I must say that I'm hooked for life on the
Siamese breed. They're not really cats, they're furry little freaks
pretending to be cats. She's at least as smart as a toddler with a
vocabulary to match. I've heard her say, "I love you." And she's always
got lots to say when she wants something and will generally show us what
it is that she wants!
She's not a docile cat at all, but she's very loving. She doesn't like
being picked up or moved, but she loves pettings. Every night, she tries
to herd my husband and I to bed by going upstairs and calling us or
coming downstairs and calling us then getting us to follow her upstairs.
When I go to bed I get mugged. She gets up on my chest and head butts me
and purrs like a Harley while I pet and scratch her. It's very relaxing
and she stays until she's sure she's put me to bed. Then she generally
leaves and repeats the process with my husband. We are often woken up
the same way. She doesn't like cold weather and in the cold months we
can usually find her curled up in the warmest spot in the house - usually
our bed, or somewhere with her brother.
Felice loves to play with her brothers and especially with the
humans - when she's in the mood. She loves shoelaces and catnip. The big
favorite, though is a short wand with a few feathers tied to it. We call
it the cat fishing rod. She will jump and swat and generally be very
silly with it. We have to keep it up out of reach when playtime is over,
or we'd be buying a lot of them. She loves to steal Doc's food because
he gets to eat wet food all the time. So he gets fed behind closed
doors - which she hates. She gives Doc some time to eat and then she's
scratching and shouting at the door to eat the leftovers.
I could go on about my girl forever! She's worth her weight in gold and
she's a wonderful fur baby.
