Mickey
is such a special kitty to me. Three years ago my cat Andy suddenly
died. It was devastating. My other cat, E.T., who was twelve at the time,
grieved terribly for him. They were best friends. Though I wasn't
emotionally ready for another cat, I felt it would help E.T. cope better
in losing Andy.
A month later, I adopted Mickey, who was twelve weeks old at the time. Of
course E.T. totally ignored him and didn't want anything to do with him. I
was beside myself because I didn't feel ready for another cat. I came very
close to giving him back to the rescue group but my brother wrote me the
most incredible email, encouraging me to keep Mickey and let Mickey help
me and E.T. through our grief.
Well, it was a blessing. E.T. took to Mickey and I fell in love also! Last
April 2007, I lost E.T. He was my best friend and soul mate. We were so
close, and he lived fifteen years. What is amazing about this story and
why I'm honoring Mickey is because Mickey is helping me through my grief
of losing E.T. and I am helping him. Not only was he there for me when
Andy died, helping me and E.T. cope, he has been a godsend in helping me
deal with E.T.'s loss. I know now why he came into my life and I feel so
blessed to have him. He is truly a gift from God!
