Meet
Callie! I adopted her from a shelter when she was only nine weeks
old. She and her four brothers and sisters were curled up in a litter box
in the cage and when I approached the window, Callie lifted her head. At
that first sleepy-eyed look, I fell immediately in love! When she was a
kitten, I took more pictures of her asleep than awake - she was famous for
her silly sleeping poses! This picture of her asleep upside-down is
a perfect example.
Callie is extremely cuddly - she loves curling up against my stomach when
I'm laying on my side or sitting on my lap when I'm watching TV or reading
(that is, trying to read). She taught herself to play fetch when she was seven
months old, and her favorite time to play is when I'm brushing my teeth
before bed. She barrels into the bathroom and won't stop meowing until I
throw her toy, at which point she flies through the air to try to make the
catch, often accidentally leaping into the walls. It doesn't bother her,
though - she'll do anything for the game! When she's done playing, she
nestles in the bathroom sink for a drink from the faucet.
Callie will do anything for a seat on a warm lap and a scratch under the
chin, and she doesn't take kindly to not being the center of attention. I
have to be sure to wash dishes in under two minutes flat or she stands on
the kitchen floor behind me and yells until I stop. Normally not a
counter-jumper, she then tries to find a way to navigate through the
appliances to get to me. If those don't work, she's been known to try to
climb up my leg...
... but it is all worth it for one minute of that purr!
