About Us
Mezzy, the Cat of the Day
Name: Mezzy
Age: Fourteen years old
Gender: Female
Kind: Chocolate Point Siamese
Home: London, Ontario, Canada

This is Mezzy, our very special Siamese cat. She has a number of different names including 'Sasha' which was her name when she was born, Sunshine, Sweetness and a bunch more. My stepdad got her for us when I was fourteen years old and she immediately became my cat. I moved out when I was eighteen and she has been by my side ever since, surviving over half a dozen moves (which most cat owners know can be traumatizing for a cat). My second cat Carmel, whom I also had since I was fourteen years old passed away three years ago. Mezzy and he were very close and she took his passing hard at first, but within a month or so we noticed a difference in her. It was almost as though she finally realized she was the only pet now, so now all the attention would be devoted to her. She became more affectionate and outgoing.

Unfortunately most Siamese cats have a bad rep or are known as being snobby, but Mezzy is far from this. She is very loving, caring, trusting and forgiving. I don't know how many times in a week I will trip over her in the hall, accidentally kicking her, but she forgives me right away. She'll give me a dirty look at first and then rub up against me. She also knows when I'm upset and will plant herself right on my lap. Once in a while my husband and I will pretend to fight, by yelling at each other, and she gets right in the middle of it and starts yelling back, it's quite funny. My husband was not a cat lover until he met Mezzy. He swears he doesn't like cats but the bond between them is obvious, and actually sometimes makes me a little jealous.

This is a great picture of Mezzy, but you need to look at it carefully! She often forgets to tuck her tongue back into her mouth after cleaning herself or yawning. She makes me laugh every day. She brings such happiness to our family every day and I'm confident she will live to be at least 20 years old.
