After
my very special soulmate cat Amelia passed away at age seventeen, I
wanted to find a similar looking kitten to help heal my heart and keep
my cat Austin (since deceased) company. A friend told me that she had
heard of a newly born litter of kittens, born to a friendly stray in my
town. The woman who had taken in the mother and babies needed to find
good homes for the kittens. I went to look at them and much to my
delight, the mother reminded me a lot of Amelia and it looked like the
kittens would, too. So I picked a little girl called "Bandit" and when
she turned eight weeks old I was able to bring her to her new forever home
with Austin and me. Of course I had to rename her and decided to name
her Artemis, after the Greek Goddess of the hunt and of the moon.
Even after ten years, she's still my sweet baby girl and queen of my
home. She now has two younger siblings, Ketzel (orange) and Merlin (all
black). She accepted them graciously, more or less anyway. All this is
what makes Artemis special to me.
