My
husband had lost his cat, Baby B, at the ripe old age of 21. He had
no interest in getting another cat--at least not right away. But a
family on the way to our church saw a tiny kitten on the side of the
road and stopped a picked him up and brought him to church. My husband
was away that day, but I told the people who had found the kitten to
please consider us. They though that a neighbor would be interested, but
the neighbor couldn't take him in. So, the next week, with my husband's
permission, we had the kitten brought to us. It was the best decision we
have ever made. Secesh - Sech for short - has been a complete delight.
He is a loving cat and, although he doesn't like to be held and is not
much for lap sitting, he loves to snuggle in bed, especially curling up
in the crook of my leg and purring up a storm. And he gives kisses - not
licks - real kisses! He is so sweet that my brother-in-law dubbed him
"Saint Sech"!
My husband is a light sleeper and generally won't allow cats in the bed
at night, but Sech is always waiting right outside our bedroom door in
the morning and comes running in to curl up with me as soon as the door
is open. Needless to say, when my husband is out of town, Sech is
thrilled to sleep with me for the night!
Although I thought that Sech would bond especially with my husband, that
didn't happen. He has become very much a "Momma's" boy--although he
loves everyone! His favorite activities are climbing trees, chasing his
little sister "Squeak," napping, drinking from the bathroom faucet, and
washing up. "My Guy Sech" is a very special guy.
I just got him a new little brother as a playmate - yes, I really did
get Sech his own kitten! Secesh's little sister Squeak does not like to
play - she just hisses whenever he tries playing with her. His new
little brother, Ghillie Math (Gaelic for 'good boy' and pronounced Gilly
Ma), is a feisty little fellow and adores Sech, but so far Sech has
failed to see the point of the pesky little fellow. But I'm sure they
will be great pals once Ghillie Math gets a bit bigger and less like a
dorkey little brother who wants to follow Sech everywhere.
