When
this big orange boy showed up on my doorstep in December of 2006,
I originally named "her" Tempest. My three tortoiseshell girls didn't
know what to do with this loud, playful, and very demanding new friend.
I had not seen the cat before, and figured I would go ahead and welcome
"her" to the cat family. After visiting the vet, I discovered (thanks to
a microchip) that this beauty was a boy and his name was Hombre, and
that his owner lived five blocks away from me. His original owner is 84
years old and we have become friends, yet Hombre insists on living with
me. It must be the Fancy Feast, and the fact that he has complete rule
of the household!
Hombre is an avid and agile hunter. He loves to go outside and wander,
and often brings mice, moles, and even snakes to me as gifts. His three
kitty sisters (Tink, Callie, and Dusty) love (or tolerate) all fifteen furry
pounds of him, even if he snores and hogs the bed at night. Hombre is
extremely vocal, and meows at me with every move he makes, whether it be
his desire to drink water, have a treat, or go outside. Though Hombre is
a handful at times, I love everything about him.
