About Us
Whiskey, the Cat of the Day
Name: Whiskey
Age: Two years old
Gender: Male
Kind: Hairless Sphynx
Home: Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, USA

Meet Whiskey, a cream colored van cat with two blue spots on his ears, a patch of blue on his left hind leg and a solid blue tail. He is our first hairless Sphynx Cat purchased from Corilee Boer, owner of AngelicSphynx in Iowa. I had developed so many allergies since I moved to SC I thought I would never be able to have a pet again. Then I heard about the Sphynx cats and instantly wanted one. Since we never purchased any of our pets before we did not know what to expect. Corilee made it so easy with her kind and friendly nature, we felt like we had known her for years. She emailed us photos and we spoke on the phone in length. Then, the day after Thanksgiving 2005 Delta airlines delivered our bundle of joy halfway across the nation to our home in Myrtle Beach, SC. We named him Whiskey and life has not been the same since.

   A True Family Bond

Whiskey is extremely affectionate and snuggles, purrs and cuddles constantly. From the time he was a kitten he would leap from the arm of the sofa, fly through the air and land on my lap. Sometimes I would catch him in mid air. He loves to climb and will often sit on my husband's shoulder as he walks about the house. He watches TV with us and sometimes even controls the remote. He sleeps with me under the covers of our bed, snuggled against my thigh or belly. Whiskey did not just bond to us as cats will often do; he created a loving family environment filled with joy and affection. Even my parents love to spend time with their Grand-Cat.

   A True Hero

In mid-January 2007 Whiskey had just finished eating his usual wet food dinner. This time moments later he vomited, then shook for awhile. He nibbled at the dry food we always kept down for him and drank a lot of water. We took him to the vet in the morning but she could not find any problems, and after a thorough examination gave him a clean bill of health. We continued to give him the wet food but he never touched it again, eating only the dry food and drinking water. Using his paws he even pushed his little brother away from the wet food. We were mystified and after a few days discarded the rest of the wet food since neither cat would touch it. Then two months later the pet food recall became public and we knew what Whiskey knew before anyone else. Not only did he save himself from certain death but saved the life of his little brother by pushing him away from the tainted food.

Whiskey is truly an enchanted cat and we love him dearly!
