This
is our Tommy-Boy! Isn't he handsome and don't you love his eyes?
He is in one of his many favorite spots in this photo, our bathroom
sink! But his very favorite spot is on my desk when I am working or
down by my feet. This boy literally showed up on our doorstep nearly five
years ago and completely adopted me and my mother. At that time, we had
two indoor cats, sisters that we had had for eighteen years and really did not
feel we needed another, but his sweet loving ways, and his insistence in
wanting to be part of our family, soon changed our minds. Not to
mention, no one in our neighborhood claimed him. He got along well with
our girls, though many times he wanted to play and did not quite
understand they were elderly and were not quite up to it. But in their
own way, they accepted him, and liked him too and put up with his
playfulness.
It was not long after, that both our sweet girls became gravely ill and
we ended up losing both of them, only months apart. We were so
devastated and hurting so much with our grief. But somehow, this sweet
boy (I often call him my "sweetheart boy") helped both of us through this
very, very difficult time of loss with his loving ways, and also somehow
making us laugh through our tears with his silliness and comical ways as
well. We truly believe has been a gift sent from God to come to us at a
time when we really needed comfort and love. He not only helped us through
that difficult time, but continues to be there whenever a comfort or
smile is needed. He is such a joy every day to be with, and we love him dearly.
