This
is Gizmo, at three to four weeks old. I found him (and 1 brother
and two sisters) under a house while doing a termite inspection on a
house. They were less than a week old and their mother was ran over by a
car. The lady that lived there was an elderly lady and was unable to
take care of them. So I took them straight to the nearest vet. There
eye's were not opened yet and I had no idea how to take care of them. I
left them there thinking they would find them a good home, well they
did. mine. I brought them home a couple days later and fell in love with
them. Now Gizmo was the runt of the litter, he was almost dead when I
got him to the vet. They were able to save him, but in the next few
weeks he nearly died on three more times. He really had a rough time his
first six months or so. He is now fifteen months old, eats more than his
brother and sisters combined and sitting in my lap as I type this. Three
of the four kittens did not have tails (including Gizmo, he's just got a
stump). And the one that does have a tail, has the longest and bushiest
tail that I have ever seen on a cat. I looks just like a Fox tail. We
live in Lavonia Georgia (Franklin County) and what makes this little
fellow so special is just his will to survive even as a one week old
kitten. And how much happiness he has brought into my life.
Gizmo is either in my lap, eating, or playing with his pet stuffed
monkey. I have about eight acres and have a trail bush-hogged all the
way around the edge of it. I walk it almost every day and Gizmo likes
for me to carry him with me when I go. He loves to chase the grass
hoppers and frogs. We saw a water snake one day and that really got his
attention, I almost could not hold him. He is grown but only weighs
about five pounds, his brother Tails weighs about twelve pounds. His favorite
game is attacking his brother's tail while he is asleep. That is the
only way he can ever get the upper hand on him. They play pretty rough,
but Tails knows when he is getting too rough with Gizmo and stops. I
found Gizmo and his siblings on October 31, 2006.
Below is a picture of him this year in his first snow. I put him down in
it and he ran straight to the walkway where there was no snow and turned
around and bowed up at it. His personality is very loving, lots of
energy and when I am home never - and I mean never - is he
more than two feet away from me. Now his little pet monkey is as big as
he is, it is so funny to watch him pick it up and carry it. It is one of
those long-armed stuffed monkeys that you see at Wal-Mart. He also loves
to play chase.
I love talking about him. Oh yeah, he loves to ride in the car also. He
gets up on the dashboard and watches everything that goes on.
