Salem, the Cat of the Day
Name: Salem
Age: Two years old
Gender: Female
Kind: Tuxedo
Home: Merrick, New York, USA

One day Wifey and I were out rescuing. Yeah, we rescue animals. This day we were looking to rescue a Yorkie. While sitting in the rescue lady's yard, which was filled with dogs and cats, all whom the lady saved from certain death, we were approached by a Tuxedo kitten. The only thing she wanted was to be petted. So I obliged. When we left the yard the kitten was under my arm.

My first published novel, The Demon Plague by Joreid McFate, was about the Salem witch trials. This tuxedo kitten fit right in and immediately got named Salem. Wifey is not a cat person, but Salem's fondness for being petted, for being close, for being a snuggler quickly elevated Salem to Wifey's favorite pet - out of our presently nine animals.

Salem just wants human contact. She'd crawl up your nose if she could. As soon as you lie down, there she is, on your chest, waiting to be petted.

Salem is the joy of our life. Just look at that face and you will realize just how sweet she is.
