My
cat's name is Emma and she is a Pixie Bob. Emma hangs out with me in
Portland Oregon. Emma has a really unique personality - she is very
inquisitive and loves to be involved in whatever it is we are doing
however she hates to be cuddled or picked up. She is very
photogenic and thinks that any photos taken should be of her.
Pixie Bobs have an interesting lineage. The story is that Carol Ann
Brewer in Washington state who lived in the cascades kept hearing
stories of people who said that they would see Bobcats fighting with
their barn cats. Then oddly one of the females cat would have a litter
of kittens that looked like little bobcats. She got a hold of some of
these cats and started breeding them. One of her first kittens was named
Pixie - so she named the breed Pixie Bobs because of the short tails
that these kittens often had.
Emma has a lot of that bobcat look and in her personality too. She loves
hiding in enclosed places to sleep and when she does come out to
socialize with us she often tries to get under the covers with us. She
is incredibly photogenic and my vet loves getting pictures of her to put
on their office bulletin board. Her favorite game with my other two cats
is playing chase.
