This
is our office cat, Beau. He is approximately nine years old. We don't
know his exact age for sure, as he came to our Napa Valley winery as a
stray about seven years ago. He has since made himself quite at home. He was
found by the GM's wife in a grocery store parking lot during a lunch
run. Today you'll find him happy lazying away the day in his bed by our
vineyard manager's desk. He's a bit shy, but extremely sweet. He has
practically no voice - but he can force out a half a squeak if he
really wants to. Besides sleeping he also excels at shedding. For this
reason we have several lint rollers in our office supply closet. Yup, no
one can shed like our Beau Kitty. We think he's going for a world's
record. Quite a difficult feat for a domestic medium hair... it's usually
those longhairs that win all the shedding awards!
Don't let his daily napping fool you. Beau is a master hunter. We've
found numerous "presents" on the front mat in the morning when reporting
for work. (Gross!) Beau also helps keep our beautiful garden mole-free.
We do a lot of entertaining guests out there and are grateful to our
furry friend that he does his part to help keep it shipshape. On a nice
day, he will occasionally go sunning out in the garden and does some
entertaining of our guests himself. He has quite the knack of finding
just that one person in the group who is allergic to cats. I think it's
a sixth sense.
