About Us
Sidney, the Cat of the Day
Name: Sidney
Age: Nine months old
Gender: Male
Kind: Gray tabby
Home: Seattle, Washington, USA

This is Sidney (aka Sidney Catier, Sidinator, Sidariffic, etc). He was adopted from the King County Animal Shelter in Seattle at about two months old. We actually visited his foster home to meet his brother, Acorn, because we thought we wanted an orange tabby. (Sidney's name was Hubbard, and his other brother's name was Butternut-all varieties of squash!) Unfortunately, Acorn had an eye infection, so we spent time with Sidney (aka Hubbard) and Butternut instead. They were very active kittens, running after each other, chasing toys, and generally being typical kittens. As we sat playing with them, Sidney climbed right up my boyfriend's back and sat on his shoulder. He wasn't scared at all! We decided on the drive home that we were going to adopt him because he had chosen us!

We set out to get Sidney and our five year old female cat Neah comfortable with one another. Neah's still not all that overjoyed with her little brother, but what big sister is? They actually get along fine and even occasionally groom each other-when they think no one's looking! We also found that Sid had quite a talent once he was a few months older-he fetches! He has a favorite toy-we call it a crinkle ball. He loves to have one of us thrown it down the hall so he can retrieve it for us, dropping it in our lap or by our feet. He also likes to lie in our laps while we're working on our laptop so he can watch the cursor move on the screen. He enjoys stalking (but not catching) jays in our back yard and will say hello to anyone-people, other cats, dogs, you name it. He is instantly friends with anyone willing! His latest endeavor is conquering the new cat door we installed into the back yard. He's already showing off to Neah by coming in and out a few dozen times a day, while Neah's still not sure what it's all about yet!

He's the friendliest and most affectionate cat I've ever met. He loves to give kisses, cuddle with his mom & dad anytime we're relaxing and if we're sitting together, he has to be touching both of us. We love him and his sister very much and know we will be enjoying their company for many more years to come!
