Nola
found her forever home with me after a very rough start. First she
lived with a family with a little girl who named her Nala after the Lion
King's girlfriend. This family moved and left her outside. The
neighbors were not very good at feeding her and she became very skinny
and scared. Finally, when she was six months old, a volunteer group
took her, had her fixed, and found a foster home for her where she
recovered from surgery and became stronger. By then her name had
morphed into "Nola."
I was the first person to visit her. She sat on my lap for a long time,
which now I know is unusual for her to do with strangers. On the first
night with me, she stayed up all night long walking around the condo
telling me about all the horrible things that happened to her-- at the
top of her voice! Now, as you can see, Nola is healthy and beautiful.
She is a big talker and we have been learning each others' language.
When it's time to eat, I ask her when she wants her food and she says
"Now!" When I come home, she greets me at the door, I say "Hi!" and she
says "Aai." I have learned many of her special meows such as when she
wants me to help her up to the top shelf in the closet. She also leaves
the message on the answering machine.
Her favorite place is on top of her mom, especially when it is time to
sleep. Probably her greatest talent is using the human toilet. Yes! No
litter box! She is very sweet, likes to meet people and new cats in the
condo building, and we love each other very much!
