Stimpy
is so much more than a pet, he is my best friend. I remember the
day Stimpy came into my life. It was the day after Labor Day in 1995,
and I was working in an automobile service department. It was a nice
day, and we had the shop doors open, and he just came strolling in. He
was meowing because he was hungry. We brought him into my office and
fed him. After his breakfast he jumped up on my lap and laid down.
That's all it took. I wasn't looking for him, he found me! I've loved
cats all of my life, and have always had cats outside, but Stimpy is my
first indoor cat.
Stimpy was diagnosed with diabetes in April of 2003. He requires two
insulin injections a day. It's just like a person that has the disease.
I have to monitor his eating, drinking, and make sure he gets his shots
every twelve hours. I actually go to a local pharmacy to pick up his
insulin. We go see our vet quite regularly to test his blood glucose.
Stimpy does not like to travel, but he deals with it. He is great at the
vet's office, even with all of his claws. Stimpy is a wonderful pet,
cat, and friend, and when the time comes, I don't know what I'll ever do
without him.
