Misty
and Splash were strays living with their mother in a woodpile
across the street from my house. They were about ten weeks old when I
rescued them and took them to a cat shelter. Misty and the other
kittens looked just like their mother, gray and white, and Splash was
the only Tortie. I adopted these two and the rest were also adopted,
even the Mother. They basically sleep all day. They are sisters but very
different; Splash is long and thin, and eats very little. I'm always
trying new foods to try to entice her. She'll come to me for a pat or
two but doesn't like to be picked up. Misty is short, chubby and loves
to eat! She'll let me pick her up and I can even trim her nails.
Splash is shy and she doesn't like to be picked up. She'll come over for
a pat or two, and then she'll disappear until it's 'tv time' and then
she'll come up on the sofa but she'll keep her distance! She loves to
chase the red dot from the laser pointer. She stalks it and jumps on it.
It's pretty funny. Misty will chase it for a minute and then she decides
that she can't catch it so what's the sense? Misty is the friendlier of
the two. She will let me pick her up and she'll snuggle with me. She
loves to sleep under a blanket -- I can never find her because she's
always hidden deep inside a quilt or on my bed between the quilt and
sheets. Splash is very finicky and I'm always trying new food to try to
get her to eat more. Misty loves to eat and will eat anything --
including Splash's leftovers! They both hide under the bed when I have company.
