My
Cat, Cassie, is special because she snuck into my life when I needed
her most, but didn't know it. When my previous cat passed away, I swore
I would never love another cat. But my friend, knowing how much of a
cat lover I am, told me about a gray kitty that some ladies she knew
had rescued. She was about a year old, already spayed, declawed in the
front and an ultimate lap cat. At first I said no, as I was trying to
stick to my conviction. However, I couldn't get a nice gray kitty out
of my mind, so I called my friend after a couple of days said yes. I
took her home and have never regretted it.
Cassie is an extremely vocal cat, earning her such nicknames as "the
mouth" and "squeaky". The first time my current boyfriend came over to
my house, Cassie walked into the living room, calmly climbed into his
lap and curled up, just like she was invited. He had never been much of
a cat lover, but the two of them bonded instantly. I knew if they liked
each other that much, everything would be fine. We have all been
together for almost three years. Cassie was recently diagnosed with
hyper-thyroidism and has to be on medication for the rest of her life.
We hope this treatment will keep her healthy and happy, and with us for
a very long time.
