Bootsie
came to us one day when we were on our way to New Jersey for the
day. We were getting all settled into the car when a cat jumped inside
with us! We were all so shocked because cats are usually afraid of cars.
I picked him up and put him outside, and said, "stay," and he sat there
looking at me. Little did we know at the time that it was the beginning
of a long-lasting time of companionship and love. The next day he showed
up again, and ran inside the house! We bought him some food, and
thinking he was stray, let him stay with us.
A few weeks later he showed up at the back door like he normally does,
waiting to be let in, when we saw a black collar around his neck. We
called the number and asked who it was. It turned out we were "sharing"
him with a family who had adopted him and his brother from the local
animal shelter. Deeply upset, we knew it was only fair to keep him out
of our home. We tried to stop feeding him, but he kept coming back. My
mother fell in love with him, and he was brought back into the house
where he lives 'til this day! Boots is the sweetest animal you could
ever encounter in your lifetime. He jumps onto my father's chest and
sleeps there for hours. And if you try to read at the table, forget it -
he "flops" on top of it and purrs! We are so blessed to have him and my
family loves him to pieces!
