Full
of fleas and hungry, Flakey appeared on my daughter's doorstep. My
two little granddaughters, then seven and two, immediately fell in love with
him. My daughter immediately heard cries, "Can we keep him?" Needless to
say, those two little faces spoke the words without ever uttering a
sound. But, after seeing their pleas were fruitless, a scheme was
devised. Since they could not keep him but still wanted to see him,
they cried out, "Let's give him to Gran and Papa who recently just lost
their cat.
My first view of Flakey came after I had shut my eyes and waited to hear
the words, "Surprise." There were two little girls, bright faces
shining as they revealed their gift to us. From then he captured our
hearts.
We first named him Snowflake, but he immediately became a Flakey when we
discovered we had a boy instead of a girl when we visited the vet. He
now has possessed "Papa's" chair. At first we thought it was because
Papa was in it, but later found that he enjoys it just as much without
him. He has found a way to let us know he is hungry by getting behind
his feeder and pushing it out into the kitchen floor. Also, he is an
early riser and lets us know it is time to get up by jumping on the back
of the bed and hitting the picture on the wall behind it with his paw.
Not wanting a picture to come down upon us we reluctantly get up and
begin our day. He has us well trained. He's a special cat!
