Hi,
my name is Maris, but my Mom and Dad call me Mari. They also call
me Orangina, Fudgie, Cutie, Mittens ... it's very confusing for me.
My story is sad with a happy ending. My parents used to live on the
second floor of an apartment building. I lived downstairs with a woman
and her daughter. They went away a lot and I got very lonely and meowed
loudly a lot of the time. My Mom heard me, and got very upset about the
whole situation. Finally, my old owners moved away ... and left me
behind like an old chair. My new Mom and Dad immediately took me in,
much to the chagrin of my older, crankier sister, Chiquita. I now live
in a big house with many closets, nooks and crannies to explore.
My favorite past times are eating, chasing the laser pointer, teasing
Chiquita, waking up my Mom and Dad one hour before their alarms go off,
laying in sun patches and eating plastic bags. I usually sleep in bed
with my parents, in such a position that they cannot move all night or
they will disturb me. Sometimes I feel independent so I sleep in the
guest room, so then I have the whole bed to myself.
I am very outgoing and unafraid of strangers. So, I am not a watch-cat.
I do, however, catch crickets, so my parents appreciate that. I am
very happy here! Especially when I get treats!
