This
is Badger. She is now four years old and is such a special cat and is
so loving and friendly. We have one other cat called Kicia who is
wonderful too.
Kicia is more of an outdoors cat and likes to do her own thing, whereas
Badger craves love and follows you everywhere and won't go outside
unless you go out with her. This is the story of how we got her.
We decided to get Kicia a life long friend,
Not realizing how it would turn out in the end.
Answering an advert in the local gazette,
It was a lottery of what we would eventually get,
Phoning up, a nice lady picked up the phone,
But she was uncertain whether they could be shown.
They'd hidden themselves under the kitchen sink,
Phone again later she said "they should be out I think".
So we phoned again and luckily they were out,
Two British blue crosses where out and about!
Luckily a buyer on the day had not arrived,
Wanting to take the last two that had survived.
So we arranged a time and set on down,
Going cross country and through a town.
Excited we were even though it would cost,
Fifty pounds for just one if we didn't get lost.
A lovely old couple opened the door,
Big smiles on our faces when the two bundles we saw.
Two choices we had of kitties to get,
Which one would turn out to be our new pet?
Black and white was one and grey the other,
A lovely cat at the door was the proud mother.
At the point of saying the grey one's for us,
Up came the other making a fuss.
So black and white it was and she was the one,
Lets hope Kicia would accept and have fun!
Well it wasn't like that and they were kept apart,
And this had to happen right from the start.
Badger we named her for obvious reasons,
She's going to be with us for countless seasons.
They grew up hating each other so much,
Hissing with anger never nearing to touch.
It started off that she grew at a slow rate,
Maybe she's just one that grows up a bit late.
But when she got older and changed her mood,
All she ever liked was sleeping and food!
She has an appetite like a tiger cat,
We decided she was a little bit too fat.
So she was put on a diet to lighten her tummy,
But all of that food still tastes so yummy.
So now she's as healthy as any cat can be,
She has a warm home & us for company you see.
She watches the house as she sleeps on the stairs,
And she always sheds so many hairs!
That was the story of my best friend,
Even though sometimes she drives me round the bend.
She has a family who loves her so dearly,
She's the best cat in the world. Clearly!
