I
adopted Ginger at six months of age from a local animal shelter. I
almost named her Amber because of her golden eyes. She was very
affectionate and purred when I held her. I didn't even look at any
other kitties after that. This was my very first cat so I was in for a
big surprise. Around 4:00 AM, I was awakened by this crashing sound and
very loud noise which ended up being Ginger running through my vertical
blinds. The first time this happened, I almost jumped out of my skin :)!
Ginger is very special to me and I call her my miracle kitty because...
Ginger seemed a little skinny and didn't eat a whole lot of food. By
the time she was a year old, she was diagnosed with a liver shunt. She
had the necessary surgery and she recuperated with flying colors!
However, she has seizures and has lost some of her eye sight. That
doesn't stop her from running through the house at full speed.
She plays somewhat with her toys but due to her eyesight, she doesn't
stay interested that long. She has turned into a lap kitty and she
knows how to tell me she wants to eat ... or wants more food. She bites
on my leg, arm, or foot very gently to let me know. She loves to look
out the window at the birds and take her usual cat naps in the
sunshine.
Ginger is very friendly and has always been from day one. She doesn't
hide when company comes over. She'll either pretend your not around or
she'll come by and greet you. Even though Ginger's medical problem is
very rare in cats, I love her even more because she's special and so
loveable. She's a real champion and was meant to be with me.
