Raj
arrived as a mature kitten in 1991, adopted us only after sizing us
up for more than a month from beneath the bush where she had taken up
residence in front of our house. At the time her fur was so matted and
tangled that she looked like a rag mop. Later, only after her first
grooming, did "rag" become elevated to "Raj" - a name now well befitting
her elegance and dignity.
She is highly selective of her friends; welcoming only a few of the
neighborhood cats who come to visit, she holds herself aloof of most -
but then, she's pretty choosy about people, too. But ... when she
commits to friendship she is as loyal and good a friend as any visiting
pet, or pet owner, could ever hope to have. She is very special to me.
