20-20, the Cat of the Day
Name: 20-20
Age: Three years old
Gender: Female
Kind: Cat
Home: Kingdom of Bahrain

20-20, named because of her odd eyes (one blue, one amber) was a feral compound cat who would come to my window to eat. When I discovered she was pregnant I unsucessfully tried to persuade her to enter my home and have her babies indoors since the temperatures in Bahrain are over 100°F. The chances of babies surviving outdoors is not good. She refused to stay in throughout her pregnancy; would not use the litter box and howled each night to leave and so I let her go.

The morning she gave birth she showed up on my bedroom window at 5:00 am wanting to come in. Within a few hours she went into contractions as I rubbed her tummy and gave birth to four babies in my bedroom closet while I watched; three survived. Now, as the babies are almost six weeks old mom and tribe are content to remain inside and 20-20 brings home little mice and birds to thank me. The white kitten is odd eyed like mommy. This is truly a beautiful story of trust between wild kitty and loving persistent caregiver.

20-20 now uses the litter box, takes good care of the babies and rubs herself all over me when I come home. She is a special cat who intuitively knew when someone wanted to help her. When I took the picture she was letting me know she wanted out for the night.
