Matilda
was one of three orphaned kittens we found in a shed behind my
work. Their mother had died, and the kittens were quite wild. We had to
use my older cat's pet carrier with food inside and a string tied to the
door as a trap to catch them. Matilda's siblings went to live with a
coworker who has a farm with goats outside of town.
Matilda became a city cat - a housemate for Bart, my five-year-old male.
At first Bart did not like the idea at all. After keeping them in
different parts of the house for a week or so with short periods of
introduction, Bart adjusted. Perhaps because they are both from feral
backgrounds, they chase each other and play a little rough. They both
seem to enjoy it.
Matilda is a true lap cat and loves attention. Besides play fights with
her big brother, Matilda loves following my husband into the back yard
when he waters the plants, and loves playing with her cat toys.
