Nermal
is fourteen years old and still healthy. She has seven toes on
each of her back paws, and six on each of her forepaws. An unhappy
little boy who had troubles in school found a tiny gray kitten in a pet
store: free with the purchase of a bag of cat food. He took her home,
named her and loved her. She has been many things in her long life -
huntress, survivor, footwarmer, and loving companion. She means the
world to that boy still, though he is much taller and hairier, and of
course much older. She still sleeps at the top of his bed, she still
says good morning with a loud purr. And if that isn't a special cat, I
don't know what is.
