Did
you know there are signs in your neighborhood for "Free Cat Food?"
They're never visible (except to cats, of course)! Last Christmas Angie
and another cat found the "Free Cat Food" on our patio, we're popular
with other local cats too. As an act of good caring we trapped these two
stray cats, ran them through our vet's evaluation and gave them a
permanent place in our home. One of the pair turned out to be a
spirited fluffy female we call Angelina. Life outside has left its toll;
Angie is missing a canine tooth, has some scarred ears, and was long
overdue for the beauty parlor!
That magnificent coat of hers needed quite a work over to make her the
Himalayan Princess again - in fact it requires a weekly brushing, too.
Angie pays us back by gently licking any human that sits on the couch
with her (watch your ears with this girl), or rolls on the floor in her
version of touch football. We did an Internet search for clues about the
Himalayans, both the cats and the indigenous people - so Angie's name
is inspired by names given to Sherpas, many are called "ang" plus
another name. "Ang" is simply the diminutive, meaning "small one" or
"beloved." Angie has some classic Himalayan cat traits, a short stocky
body, short legs, an exceptionally long, thick and silky Siamese-pointed
coat. Her mussel is longish suggesting some Siamese in the mix. One of
Angie's favorite games is attacking the throw rugs under the tables and
chairs. Give a chance she kicks like mad any bump or ridge she can find!
She's our Himalayan Princess!
