This
is my big boy, Agapè. His greek name means "fraternal love." He
thinks he is the king of the house, always wandering around and doing
whatever he wants. It's a pleasure to look at him: the way he moves,
sleeps or stretches is the most graceful and charming I've ever seen. He
likes to be petted but not held. Sometimes he jumps to the highest place
in the room and stays there, cleaning himself or sleeping, satisfied to
be far from the other beings. He allows other cats to come close and
plays with them but becomes annoyed when is eating and they play with
his tail (although he provokes them, since goes on waving it). He
prefers the kitten's food to his one. Even if there is fresh water in
the bowl (and there is, most of the time), he usually drinks from the
kitchen sink.
Agapè came to live with us when he was about ten weeks.
On the way home, he wanted to look at everything (he still is very
curious). I remember he seemed to like to watch TV. To go to sleep, he
used to suck his paw or my fingers, which he stopped doing some months
later. He learned his name early and comes to me when I call him, if he
is in the mood. When he wants something - to eat, drink, go out or go in
- he knows how to ask for it. Agapè was ill twice (once he had to be
hospitalized) but is very healthy and strong now. He conquers everyone's
heart - of our relatives, friends, neighbors, vets, the other cats in
the house and even the dog that, in the beginning, used to bark at him
furiously; they now play together and Agapè dominates the show.
