About Us
Shorty, the Cat of the Day
Name: Shorty
Age: One year old
Gender: Male
Kind: Tabby
Home: North Dakota, USA

Shorty was rescued from an bad home. The first time I saw him, I bent down to talk to him and he reached up with his paw and gently patted me on the cheek. I knew right then and there he was coming to my house. My son kept calling him "Shorty" and the name stuck. But we should have called him "Dash," because that's what he does. He dashes here and dashes there.

He's not a cuddly cat, at least not yet. And he has a few fear issues which stem from the treatment he received prior to coming to our house. His favorite things are trying to catch our hands under the blanket, being outdoors, trying to catch birds and flies, and "dashing" about! His housemate, Norman Jean, so Shorty thought he ought to have a shot at it too!

We like to pet Shorty because his fur is so soft, and he is learning to enjoy being combed. The minute we touch him he starts to purr and it is very loud. His whole body vibrates. Whenever someone has a snack, he wants to taste it, but he usually refuses more than a taste. Actually his favorite food is canned cat food. He is special to us, and I know we will enjoy watching his personality develop as he matures. It makes me feel good to think that he no longer has to be afraid of people. I am certain it makes him feel good too!
