Moxie
is a bright, lively cat with lots of, well… moxie! But, it
wasn't always that way. We were planning to get a cat from the
Humane Society but when we saw Moxie at a pet store, she looked
so sick and sad that we had to adopt her then and there. She was
the smallest cat in the pen and she could barely hold her little
head up. We took her home, spent about two weeks nursing her back
to health, and she visited the vet almost every day. However,
once she started feeling better, a curious, intelligent and
energetic kitty emerged. She was so happy to be alive that she
drove us crazy with her wild kitten antics! Moxie grew up to be a
tiny cat, weighing only about eight pounds. When she was little,
she was kind of an ugly duckling with a skinny neck, a big head,
and huge eyes - she looked like an alien! Fortunately, Moxie got
prettier every day; she filled out, her silky, colorful coat
began to shine, and her eyes turned into bright green jewels. Our
ugly duckling turned into a swan! Moxie has more than just
beauty: she also has brains. While our other two cats chase the
red dot from the laser pointer on the wall, Moxie is busy
investigating your hand trying to figure out how that silly light
works. Her favorite things to play with are bottle caps, rubber
bands and a ragged plastic mouse that she's had since she was a
baby. She likes to collect her toys, deposit them in the bathtub
and cover them with bath towels. We love Moxie dearly as she's
our little survivor whose name fits her perfectly.
