Jake
keeps my dad company by going where Dad goes, e.g. under the house,
in the shed, on the roof. Jake will ride along on the golf cart if Dad
doesn't drive too fast. Jake can run extremely fast, but he also walks
unusually slow. He loves to sleep for hours at a time in the house, on a
comfortable chair, behind a chair, or on the hard fireplace hearth.
Jake has lots of toys and prefers the color red. You can throw a tiny
ball toward him, and he will bat it with his paw. I gave him a tiny
furry real-looking mouse which he immediately put into his water dish.
The last time I visited Jake and my parents I asked where Jake's mouse
was. Mom said she hadn't seen it for some time, that Dad periodically
looks under the couch with a flashlight and yardstick to retrieve his
toys, but no mouse. About five minutes later, Jake went and looked under
the grandfather clock. Dad checked with the flashlight and yardstick,
and there was the mouse! Jake was listening to our conversation - only
one of the many reasons that makes him a super-special cat.
