Acony
Bell is a very sweet and loving cat. She is also the bravest cat
I've known. Acony Bell arrived in my back yard less than one year old,
hungry, with five of her kittens. She cared for and protected her
children, not allowing anyone to come near. After new homes for two of
the kittens, the disappearance of the other three and several months
of getting to know me, Acony Bell finally agreed to come into the
house.
Since joining me inside Acony Bell has revealed herself as a gentle,
friendly, devoted cat. She follows me from room to room, staying close
at hand, and requesting that I tell her my destination each time I
leave the house. Acony Bell politely welcomes visitors, allowing them
to pet her. In the main she is my child, inseparable from me.
In July, 2001, Acony Bell was diagnosed with a dreadful disease. She
has tolerated treatment without complaint. She had fluid withdrawn
from her chest every day for two weeks. She has endured x-rays,
ultrasounds, catheters, scores of injections and innumerable pills.
For a time I believed she would die. Although still on medication, she
is now much better. Through all of this Acony Bell has neither
scratched nor bitten. She does not hide, and is just as loving and
friendly as she has always been. Acony Bell is both the bravest cat
and the gentlest cat. She is a rare and wonderful combination.
