This
is House Kitty. He was one of the most passionate, suave felines
I've ever known. He was the Sean Connery of kitties. He swaggered into
my life while I was working in Kansas for a brief time. After work one
day, I came home to find this fuzzy guy stretched out across the back
of my recliner, with one paw lazily hanging over the side. I have no
idea where he came from. I walked over and asked, "So I guess you live
here now?" He looked over at me confidently, stretched, meowed and
went back to napping. What a guy. For some reason, my other four cats
acted as if nothing had changed, and he fit right in!
Soon after, I discovered his passionate points! He would growl and run
to the front door if anyone knocked or rang the door bell. He'd play
chase all through the house with me, and do a leaping, full-body
tackle, when he'd catch me! He'd leap out at me from behind the bushes
in the very dark AM, when I'd take the garbage out to the street. He'd
always meet me out front when I'd come home each day. He wasn't afraid
of anyone that came over, and would meet them in the yard, and escort
them all the way to "his" front door! I could go on and on about his
antics... And then there was the snuggling! He loved to bury his face
under my chin while making BIG kitty biscuits in my hair. He'd fall
asleep that way each night, and then eventually move up to my pillow.
He'd wrap himself around my head, and always have one paw touching my
face.
One Sunday morning he was hit by a car. He survived long enough to
know that I was there with him until the end. Even though he was part
of my life for only three years, I will miss him a lifetime's worth.
